I am all in with my clients when they are buying or selling a home in Brandon, Florida, and that’s what I mean when I talk about a VIP experience. I’ve been on my client’s side of the transaction, and while a real estate purchase or sale is a big deal, I’m determined it shouldn’t be a hugely stressful experience for my clients.
When deciding on a real estate agent, you’re selecting more than just who you think is the best negotiator. So here are some questions I’d recommend you ask real estate agents to help you find the best professional for the most optimal outcome!
- How well do you know my community? It’s important that the person you list your home with or who is helping you on your home search is well-acquainted with your community (if you’re selling) or the communities you’re looking at (if you’re buying). As an agent, part of my VIP service is considering my client’s needs. For example, one family I help may be a growing family, and I’ll need to consider preschools and sports fields. Another client, however, may be very different- an empty-nesting couple looking for a low-maintenance lot and great community amenities. Knowing my selling areas is key to matching people with their dream homes and getting top dollar for sellers.
- Do you have a recommendation network? It sure would be nice if all a buyer or seller had to worry about was turning the key into a new home or driving the moving truck away from the former home. But, during a real estate transaction, it’s common that home inspections bring up maintenance needs that require professional repair or that a new homeowner needs a lawn company or handyman recommendation.
A real estate professional should have valuable resources on-the-ready for those they serve. By staying plugged into the community, I curate the best businesses in town to refer to for any of my clients’ needs. Need a vacation to the Maldives after your move? I know someone that can plan it. Need a well-rated house painter to turn the pea-green exterior of your new home into something more stylish? I’ll give you my best recommendation.
- How do you handle communications? Buying or selling a home is a significant decision and process, and you want someone who will be attentive and responsive all the way through that process. By putting this question out to a real estate professional, you should receive a crystal-clear response about the channels they use to keep in touch, notify you of any need-to-know information, and when you should receive a reply during and after working hours.
Taking it a step further, I ask my clients how they would like me to communicate with them. For instance, some people love receiving a text for small information, while others prefer a call or an email. One thing is sure—with everyone on the same page with communication, you’ll feel assured of a smoother buying or selling journey.
- Are you a full-time or a part-time agent? A full-time agent will likely be able to devote their time to working for you than someone with other commitments as they pursue a real estate career. This question will also help you open the door to asking a real estate agent about their experience (see below).
- How experienced are you as a real estate agent in the Brandon area? Experience doesn’t just have to do with longevity: It has to do with a track record of successful transactions and happy clients. A real estate agent should have reviews and testimonials on their website, Google, and other online spaces. Reviews will assure you you’re getting someone with excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills who goes the extra mile for their clients.
